Job Summary: Ten One Aerospace is looking for an Integration and Test (I&T) Lead who is excited to apply their experience and know-how toward the development and production of cutting-edge technologies at an innovative space company. As the I&T Lead, you are to conduct day-to-day operations of Ten One Aerospace's Annapolis, MD lab to support ongoing engineering activities that involve spacecraft payload design, assembly, and testing, concerning mechanical and electrical interfaces, power, thermal, optics, and flight and ground software. You will also have leadership responsibility for Ten One's general integration, test, and quality assurance processes and procedures, ensuring Ten One is positioned to scale effectively while still guaranteeing the quality of customer deliverables. You will be a critical team member for the ongoing development and testing of Ten One Aerospace's innovative Rendezvous Proximity Operations (RPO) Kit product development, as well as supporting other ongoing engineering and research projects.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. The candidate should be conscientious and creative, able to strictly develop and follow safety procedures while also developing high-quality test plans for newly engineered systems. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment while the industry and company grow substantially.
About Ten One Aerospace:
Founded in 2020 in Washington, DC, Ten One Aerospace provides engineering services and products for the aerospace industry, specializing in astrodynamics, controls, and autonomy for space missions. Our focus is on spacecraft Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems and flight software (FSW). Ten One Aerospace is developing a full suite of GNC capabilities for space missions, including RPO and docking across all orbital regimes.
Spacecraft RPO is a challenging, highly specialized, multidisciplinary field of aerospace engineering, extending beyond traditional GNC, and it is critical to space missions such as debris removal, on-orbit servicing, refueling, and in-space manufacturing. At Ten One, we aim to make RPO safe and affordable to lower the entry barriers for new space companies and enable a robust space economy.

Location: Onsite at Ten One Aerospace lab located in Annapolis, MD
Responsibilities:

Lead and conduct the day-to-day operation of our lab to support ongoing engineering activities that involve spacecraft payload design, assembly, integration and testing at various stages of development.

Support the continued design and build-out of the lab facility.
-
Develop/procure, maintain, and operate mechanical and electrical ground support equipment and facilities.
-
Collaborate with team members to define system requirements and verification and validation plans.
-
Develop and maintain plans and procedures for assembly, integration, and acceptance, qualification, and performance testing of spaceflight systems.
-
Develop and maintain realistic schedules and coordinate resources for test campaigns.
-
Interface with ground software, simulators, flight software, and hardware components to conduct test campaigns in various software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop configurations.

Use test and measurement equipment to test and troubleshoot spaceflight hardware and lead investigations into non-conformances and anomalies.

Maintain test logs and generate test reports.

Assist in the development of quality and safety standards and ensure compliance with such standards.

Conduct personnel training regarding environmental, safety and quality assurance practices.

Prepare and coordinate building maintenance, inspections, and facility status for compliance with company and state guidelines.

Coordinate shipments (send/receive/pack/unpack equipment) at the facility and help to manage inventory.

Maintain tracking systems for all incoming and outgoing shipments of the location.

Maintain equipment and tooling calibrations and records within the company tracking system.

Provide functional oversight, technical guidance, and mentorship to other lab team members.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other engineering)

5+ years of professional engineering experience in the aerospace industry, as a test engineer or other hands-on engineering role.

Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment (PSU, Oscilloscope, DMM, etc.).
-
Experience in quality assurance, testing, and verification of electrical and mechanical systems.

Experience in writing technical documentation, such as procedures, reports, and requirements.

Desire to work in a small, fast-paced, and innovative aerospace company.

Experience with lab safety equipment and procedures.
-
Familiar with ISO 9000 or AS9100 requirements

Experience with adhering to industry standard clean room and anti-static (ESD) environments.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

Experience developing industry standard clean room and anti-static (ESD) environments.

Basic knowledge of networking.

Experience with Linux systems.

Experience with embedded systems.

Experience with software configuration management systems such as git.

Experience repairing/assembling/testing circuit boards and microelectronics.

Familiarity with spacecraft harness design and best practices.

Experience handling sensitive optics.

Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted.

Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for lab and electro-chemical manufacturing environments.

Must be comfortable with climbing up and down ladders, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, crawling, and maneuvering in tight spaces.

Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
